We are organising and funding a study tour to the United States to examine best practice in the area of ‘reconciliation.’ The destination is Richmond, Virginia, a city described recently as being "able to host a civic conversation that involves the whole American story". (Dr Donald Shriver Jr - Honest Patriots, OUP, 2005). Historically Richmond was a centre of the Slave Trade and of the Confederate tradition.
The goal of the one week visit is
· To learn from the initiatives and achievements of people, community organisations, public institutions in making and sustaining Richmond as a diverse and open city.
