The objective of this tour was to facilitate the development of viable and sustainable biomass supply chains and meet emerging commercial markets in Northern Ireland, through the study of best practice in production and use of SRC willow and timber based biomass in Sweden. The study tour placed particular emphasis on –

• Commercially viable production, harvesting and supply arrangements for undried willow and wood chip.
• Storage and combustion of the “green chip”.
• User specification and supply requirements to meet those requirements.
• Stimulating and management of Farmer-to-user supply chains; including heat entrepreneurship arrangements.
